Downtown Oakland law firm with practice areas consisting of real estate law, business law, family law, and general civil litigation is seeking a legal assistant and a legal intern. The firm is conveniently accessible and is half a block away from 12th Street BART station.
A. LEGAL INTERNSHIP/LAW CLERK
We are looking for a legal intern who is a recent graduate from law school or is enrolled in either law school or paralegal school that can intern during the school year. The law clerk will conduct client intake, draft letters, draft law and motion papers, and attend depositions and other Court hearings. A sense of humor is a definite plus.
Although this position is unpaid, this is an excellent opportunity for real world legal experience and to learn more about various aspects of the law. As a law clerk, you will assist the attorneys in, among other things, legal research, preparing motions, and discovery.
The law clerk will work approximately 10-15 hours a week in accommodation to school schedule. Candidates must have excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.

B. LEGAL ASSISTANT
We are also seeking a part-time legal assistant to work 3 days a week, 15 to 20 hours a week to start. Chinese fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin is required for this position. We are looking for a person who:

* has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff and clients

His/her duties include:
filing documents
calendaring
word processing
light phone answering
contacting clients via telephone
preparing simple client letters and pleadings
simple online researching
scanning
copying
faxing
helping with client billing
helping with filings with the court
